The Bhavnagar seat comprises 7 Assembly segments including Talaja, Palitana, Bhavnagarrural, Bhavnagareast, Bhavnagarwest, Gadhada, Botad. The constituency is a GENERAL seat. The BJP, the INC are the main parties in the constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Dr.bharatiben Dhirubhai Shiyal from BJP won the seat with a margin of 329,519 votes. Dr.bharatiben Dhirubhai Shiyal was polled 661,273 votes with a vote share of 63.00 % and defeated Patel Manharbhai Nagjibhai (vasani) from INC who got 331,754 votes (31.77 %). In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Dr. Bharatiben Dhirubhai Shiyal from BJP won the seat and was polled 549,529 votes with a vote share of 59.85%. INC candidate Rathod Pravinbhai Jinabhai got 254,041 votes (27.67 %) and was the runner-up.Dr. Bharatiben Dhirubhai Shiyal defeated Rathod Pravinbhai Jinabhai by a margin of 295,488 votes.
