The Barrackpore seat comprises 7 Assembly segments including Amdanga, Bijpur, Naihati, Bhatpara, Jagatdal, Noapara, Barrackpur. The constituency is a GENERAL seat. The BJP, the AITC are the main parties in the constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Arjun Singh from BJP won the seat with a margin of 14,857 votes. Arjun Singh was polled 472,994 votes with a vote share of 43.00 % and defeated Dinesh Trivedi from AITC who got 458,137 votes (41.47 %). In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Dinesh Trivedi from AITC won the seat and was polled 479,206 votes with a vote share of 45.53%. CPM candidate Subhashini Ali got 272,433 votes (25.88 %) and was the runner-up.Dinesh Trivedi defeated Subhashini Ali by a margin of 206,773 votes.
