Asansol is one of the Lok Sabha constituencies in West Bengal. The state has 42 parliamentary seats. The Asansol seat comprises 7 Assembly segments including Barbani, Pandabeswar, Raniganj, Jamuria, Asansoldakshin, Asansoluttar, Kulti. The constituency is a GENERAL seat. The BJP, the AITC are the main parties in the constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Babul Supriyo from BJP won the seat with a margin of 197,637 votes. Babul Supriyo was polled 633,378 votes with a vote share of 51.00 % and defeated Moon Moon Sen from AITC who got 435,741 votes (35.19 %). In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Babul Supriya Baral (babul Supriyo) from BJP won the seat and was polled 419,983 votes with a vote share of 36.75%. AITC candidate Dola Sen got 349,503 votes (30.58 %) and was the runner-up.Babul Supriya Baral (babul Supriyo) defeated Dola Sen by a margin of 70,480 votes.
