Dr.a.chellakumar was polled 611,298 votes with a vote share of 53.00 % and defeated K.p.munusamy from ADMK who got 454,533 votes (39.11 %). In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Ashok Kumar.k from AIADMK won the seat and was polled 480,491 votes with a vote share of 44.93%. DMK candidate Chinna Pillappa.p got 273,900 votes (25.61 %) and was the runner-up.Ashok Kumar.k defeated Chinna Pillappa.p by a margin of 206,591 votes.
