The INC, the SAD are the main parties in the constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Preneet Kaur from INC won the seat with a margin of 162,718 votes. Preneet Kaur was polled 532,027 votes with a vote share of 45.00 % and defeated Surjit Singh Rakhra from SAD who got 369,309 votes (31.33 %). In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Dr. Dharam Vira Gandhi from AAP won the seat and was polled 365,671 votes with a vote share of 32.62%. INC candidate Preneet Kaur got 344,729 votes (30.75 %) and was the runner-up.Dr. Dharam Vira Gandhi defeated Preneet Kaur by a margin of 20,942 votes.
