Yeddyurappa from BJP won the seat and was polled 606,216 votes with a vote share of 53.63%. INC candidate Manjunath Bhandary got 242,911 votes (21.49 %) and was the runner-up.B. S. Yeddyurappa defeated Manjunath Bhandary by a margin of 363,305 votes.
