Bhagalpur is one of the Lok Sabha constituencies in Bihar. The state has 40 parliamentary seats. The Bhagalpur seat comprises 6 Assembly segments including Bihpur, Gopalpur, Pirpainti(sc), Kahalgaon, Bhagalpur, Nathnagar. The constituency is a GENERAL seat. The JD(U), the RJD are the main parties in the constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Ajay Kumar Mandal from JD(U) won the seat with a margin of 277,630 votes. Ajay Kumar Mandal was polled 618,254 votes with a vote share of 59.00 % and defeated Shailesh Kumar Alias Vulo Mandal from RJD who got 340,624 votes (32.65 %). In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Shailesh Kumar Urph Bulo Mandal from RJD won the seat and was polled 367,623 votes with a vote share of 37.74%. BJP candidate Syed Shahnawaz Hussain got 358,138 votes (36.76 %) and was the runner-up.Shailesh Kumar Urph Bulo Mandal defeated Syed Shahnawaz Hussain by a margin of 9,485 votes.
