Lakhimpur is one of the Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam. The state has 14 parliamentary seats. The Lakhimpur seat comprises 9 Assembly segments including Majuli, Naoboicha, Lakhimpur, Dhakuakhana, Dhemaji, Jonai, Chabua, Doomdooma, Sadiya. The constituency is a ST seat. The BJP, the INC are the main parties in the constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Pradan Baruah from BJP won the seat with a margin of 350,551 votes. Pradan Baruah was polled 776,406 votes with a vote share of 60.00 % and defeated Anil Borgohain from INC who got 425,855 votes (33.17 %). In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Sarbananda Sonowal from BJP won the seat and was polled 612,543 votes with a vote share of 55.05%. INC candidate Ranee Narah got 320,405 votes (28.80 %) and was the runner-up.Sarbananda Sonowal defeated Ranee Narah by a margin of 292,138 votes.
