The YSRCP, the TDP are the main parties in the constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Chinta Anuradha from YSRCP won the seat with a margin of 39,795 votes. Chinta Anuradha was polled 485,958 votes with a vote share of 39.00 % and defeated Ganti Harish Madhur (balayogi) from TDP who got 446,163 votes (36.12 %). In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Dr Pandula Ravindra Babu from TDP won the seat and was polled 594,547 votes with a vote share of 52.99%. YSRCP candidate Pinipe Viswarupu got 473,971 votes (42.25 %) and was the runner-up.Dr Pandula Ravindra Babu defeated Pinipe Viswarupu by a margin of 120,576 votes.
