Solapur is one of the Lok Sabha constituencies in Maharashtra. The state has 48 parliamentary seats. The Solapur seat comprises 6 Assembly segments including Mohol, Solapurcitynorth, Solapurcitycentral, Akkalkot, Solapursouth, Pandharpur. The constituency is a SC seat. The BJP, the INC are the main parties in the constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Shri. Sha. Bra. Dr. Jai Sidheshwar Shivachary Mahaswamiji from BJP won the seat with a margin of 158,608 votes. Shri. Sha. Bra. Dr. Jai Sidheshwar Shivachary Mahaswamiji was polled 524,985 votes with a vote share of 48.00 % and defeated Shinde Sushilkumar Sambhajirao from INC who got 366,377 votes (33.73 %). In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Sharad Bansode from BJP won the seat and was polled 517,879 votes with a vote share of 54.43%. INC candidate Shinde Sushilkumar Sambhajirao got 368,205 votes (38.70 %) and was the runner-up.Sharad Bansode defeated Shinde Sushilkumar Sambhajirao by a margin of 149,674 votes.

The Election Commission has released the data of poll-time seizures between March 1 and May 18. It has also stated that the amount will soon cross Rs. 9000 crore mark. The unprecedent seizure is resulted by intelligence-based coordinated action, constant review and ESMS-enabled real time monitoring.
