Silchar is one of the Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam. The state has 14 parliamentary seats. The Silchar seat comprises 7 Assembly segments including Silchar, Sonai, Dholai, Udharbond, Lakhipur, Barkhola, Katigorah. The constituency is a GENERAL seat. The BJP, the INC are the main parties in the constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, Rajdeep Roy from BJP won the seat with a margin of 81,596 votes. Rajdeep Roy was polled 499,414 votes with a vote share of 53.00 % and defeated Sushmita Dev from INC who got 417,818 votes (43.95 %). In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Sushmita Dev from INC won the seat and was polled 336,451 votes with a vote share of 42.05%. BJP candidate Kabindra Purkayastha got 301,210 votes (37.65 %) and was the runner-up.Sushmita Dev defeated Kabindra Purkayastha by a margin of 35,241 votes.
Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Campaigning for the general elections is at its peak as political parties intensify their efforts to reach the public as the fifth phase of Lok Sabha Elections will take place on May 20.
Shiromani Akali Dal released its manifesto for the Lok Sabha elections on Saturday. Punjab has 13 Lok Sabha seats, all of which will go to polls in the seventh and last phase of elections on June 1. The results will be declared on June 4.

The Election Commission has released the data of poll-time seizures between March 1 and May 18. It has also stated that the amount will soon cross Rs. 9000 crore mark. The unprecedent seizure is resulted by intelligence-based coordinated action, constant review and ESMS-enabled real time monitoring.
