The IUML, the BJP are the main parties in the constituency. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, K. Navaskani from IUML won the seat with a margin of 127,122 votes. K. Navaskani was polled 469,943 votes with a vote share of 44.00 % and defeated Nainar Nagenthran from BJP who got 342,821 votes (32.13 %). In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Anwar Raajhaa. A from AIADMK won the seat and was polled 405,945 votes with a vote share of 40.54%. DMK candidate Mohamed Jaleel.s got 286,621 votes (28.63 %) and was the runner-up.Anwar Raajhaa. A defeated Mohamed Jaleel.s by a margin of 119,324 votes.
