Velusamy, P. was polled 746,523 votes with a vote share of 64.00 % and defeated Jothimuthu, K. from PMK who got 207,551 votes (17.88 %). In the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections, Udhaya Kumar .m from AIADMK won the seat and was polled 510,462 votes with a vote share of 47.10%. DMK candidate Gandhirajan S got 382,617 votes (35.31 %) and was the runner-up.Udhaya Kumar .m defeated Gandhirajan S by a margin of 127,845 votes.
