In Nair's series, Namit plays Haresh Khanna, a shoemaker, a businessman and one of the suitors of Lata, the lead character played by Tanya Maniktala.
The film marked the directorial debut of Ayan Mukerji, and it revolves around Siddharth (Ranbir), a spoilt son and a disinterested college student, who learns what sense of responsibility is the hard way from Aisha (Konkona Sen Sharma), an aspiring writer from Kolkata. Namit played the role of Rishi, Sid's college friend.
Actor Namit Das recalls working with Mira Nair in 'A Suitable Boy' and says, 'Mira is one of those special people in the world who understands human relationships. She knows human beings so well. That's why you can never lie to her. You have to be truthful.'
Namit Das has impressed audience with his performances in Wake Up Sid, Pataakha, and Sui Dhaaga.
Based on the 1993 book by Vikram Seth, A Suitable Boy series revolves around spirited university student Lata, played by the debutante Tanya Maniktala, and her three suitors - Kabir, Haresh, and Amit.
