The Jammu and Kashmir government has issued 12.5 lakh domicile certificates so far. Government has make domicile certificates compulsory for admissions and for jobs in the union territory.
Jammu and Kashmir Principal Secretary for Power and Information, Rohit Kansal, on September 01 informed that over 12.5 lakh Domicile Certificates have been issued in J-K so far.
Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir is on a war footing in providing domicile certificates to the residents. Poonch's Haveli tehsil provides 53,000 domicile certificates in just 2 months.
District administration of Jammu and Kashmir has set up a camp to issue domicile certificates to non-permanent residents in Doda. Over 200 certificates have been issued so far.
Minister of States in Prime Minister Office Jitendra Singh on May 19, congratulated and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah on Jammu and Kashmir government notifying Jammu and Kashmir Grant of Domicile Certificate
