Qatar will become the first country in the Middle East to host the mega sporting event, which will kick off from November 21, 2022.
A gala ceremony with coaches of the 55 national teams had been set to be held in November until the coronavirus pandemic ruled out that plan.
FIFA added that a new schedule would be unveiled "in due course" after further talks with CONCACAF officials, confirming only that the first round would be in March.
The Asian qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup were postponed to 2021 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
AFC further said that details on the new dates for the next round of qualifying matches for the two tournaments will be announced in due course.
India is already out of contention for berth in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The team is still in the reckoning for a spot in the 2023 AFC Asian Cup.
The first two rounds of qualifiers had been scheduled for late March before being postponed because of the coronavirus outbreak.
The late former South American football bosses Nicolas Leoz and Julio Grondona also allegedly received payments to vote for Qatar's candidacy at a 2010 FIFA executive meeting.
Adil Khan, whose goal salvaged a draw for India against Bangladesh in the World Cup qualifiers, talked about India's upcoming tests against Afghanistan and Oman.
