A torrid heatwave had sent the mercury soaring across large swathes of India with the temperature in Delhi rising to 46 degrees Celsius. The national capital also recorded its second hottest April in 72 years with a monthly average maximum temperature of 40.2 degrees Celsius.
Reports of infections from schools have sparked concerns weeks after they opened for completely offline classes after a two-year gap due to the pandemic.

The process for nursery admissions in Delhi, which began on December 15, will conclude on March 31. Currently, the admission process is underway for more than 1,800 schools.

With world-class infrastructure and facilities suited to transact new-age curriculum and assessment in specialised domains, the students of these schools will have the opportunity for experiential learning through projects, field visits and internships in their areas of interest.
Sisodia informed that the schools are following the COVID protocols of face masks and social distancing strictly. "Offline classes for Nursery to class 8 would start from February 14", said Sisodia.
Many teachers and parents pointed out that the attendance was thin when schools were last reopened due to the online teaching option and it will be difficult to make up for the learning losses if physical classes are not completely resumed.
On Tuesday, CM Arvind Kejriwal had also said that soon, Covid curbs in the national capital will be lifted.
The DoE said that the assessment record of winter break assignments and activities must be maintained scrupulously and shall count towards internal assessment.
Delhi Schools Reopening: The classes will be held in hybrid mode with both physical and online classes.
The announcement comes after the Commission for Air Quality Management in the national capital region and adjoining areas has permitted offline classes to begin.
