Renuka Singh is the Minister of State (MoS) for Tribal Affairs in the Narendra Modi government and the Lok Sabha member from the Surguja constituency in Chhattisgarh. In the 2019 Lok Sabha Election, Renuka Singh defeated Congress candidate Khel Sai Singh by 1,57,873 votes. Renuka Singh became a member of the Chhattisgarh Assembly in 2003 after defeating Congress candidate Tuleshwar Singh by 17,752 votes from the Premnagar constituency and being appointed as Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Woman and Child Development and Family Welfare in the Raman Singh-led government. In the 2008 Chhattisgarh Assembly Election, Renuka Singh again won from the Premnagar constituency by defeating Congress candidate Naresh Kumar Rajwade by 16,109 votes. However, she lost the 2013 Chhattisgarh Assembly Election from Premnagar when Congress leader Khelsai Singh defeated her by 18,327 votes. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Saruta this time from Bharatpur-Sonhat in the Chhattisgarh Assembly Election 2023 against Congress candidate Gulab Singh Kamro.
