Noida's Meghna Srivastava tops CBSE Class 12 exams

CBSE 12th Result 2018 announced: Girls outshine boys; Noida's Meghna Srivastava tops CBSE Class 12 exams

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Saturday announced the Class 12th Results, in which girls outperformed boys with 88.31 against 78.99 percent. Noida's Meghna Srivastava emerged as the topper with 499 marks out of 500. She is a student of Step By Step School, Noida, and is from the Humanities stream. The second position was bagged by another girl, Anoushka Chand, also a humanities stream student from a school in Ghaziabad. She got 498 marks out of 500. The third position was held by seven students who got 497 marks out of 500, the officials said. The overall pass percentage stood at 83.01 per cent.

As many as 28 lakh students registered to appear for the CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 examinations this year. Over 16,38,420 candidates registered for the Class 10 exam conducted at 4,453 centres across India and 78 centres abroad. For Class 12, 11,86,306 candidates registered and the exams were held at 4,138 centres in India and 71 centres outside the country.
