The Samyukta Kisan Morcha, the umbrella body of agitating farm unions, has said that farmers will go ahead with their protests and announced 'Sansad Chalo' (march to Parliament) on November 29 to observe one year of anti-farm laws protests.
To observe one year of the anti-farm law agitation, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of farmers' unions, had earlier this month announced that 500 farmers will participate in peaceful tractors marches to Parliament every day during the Winter Session starting November 29.
Against this backdrop, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Saturday, held a meeting on the crypto currencies with senior officials and indications are that strong regulatory steps could be taken to deal with the issue.
The parliamentary panel was chaired by BJP leader Jayant Sinha, discussed the pros and cons of crypto finance with various stakeholders, and several members were in favour of regulating crypto-currency exchanges rather than imposing an outright ban on crypto-currencies, according to sources.
Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal said, "From November 26, the farmers' movement will increase the number of farmers... will intensify the movement... on November 29, when the Parliament session (winter session) will commence, a batch of 500-500 farmers will march to Parliament from Tikri and Ghazipur border."
This session will likely be stormy as the Opposition will corner the government on the issue of inflation, civilians' killing in Jammu and Kashmir and also the Lakhimpur Kheri incident. The farmers' agitation against the three farm laws may also be raised.
The Winter session assumes significance as it will be held just months before the assembly elections in five states, including politically-crucial Uttar Pradesh, which is seen as a semi-final for the 2024 general elections.
Stressing upon the need of a new Parliament building, the Union housing and urban affairs minister said that the current one is "unsafe" as when it had been constructed, it was in Seismic Zone II, but now that area lies in Seismic Zone IV.
PM Modi chaired a meeting of council of union ministers in the Cultural Centre located in the Parliament on September 28. Piyush Goyal and Gajendra Singh Shekhawat gave presentations during the meet.
