IAF plane carrying APJ Abdul Kalam's mortal remains leaves for Rameshwaram

An IAF plane carrying the mortal remains of former President APJ Abdul Kalam left for Madurai from Palam airport. From Madurai, Kalam's body will be taken by a helicopter to his hometown Rameswaram for last rites.

The funeral will be held in Rameswaram at 11 am tomorrow, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Kalam will be accorded a state funeral, the MHA statement said.
