Assembly elections in Gujarat will be held in December 2022 to elect 182 members of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. The tenure of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly is scheduled to end on 18 February 2023.
The development comes amid the row over the suspension of BJP leader Nupur Sharma for her alleged controversial religious remarks on a TV debate.

"Two persons have been arrested for firing on AIMIM MP Asaduddin Owaisi's convoy while he was returning to Delhi after campaigning in UP. The investigation is underway," Superintendent of Police Hapur, Deepak Bhuker said.
UP Police has arrested one of the attackers and detained another person. Police said the interrogation of attackers is underway.
