The Central Government has asked all its employees aged 45 years and above to get themselves vaccinated to effectively contain the spread of COVID-19.
Central government employees and pensioners will get full benefits of dearness allowance starting July 1, with all the three pending installments being restored prospectively, Minister for State for Finance, Anurag Thakur said in Parliament on Tuesday.
According to media reports, the Centre is expected to increase the dearness allowance of its employees by 4 per cent which will increase the Dearness Allowance to 21 per cent. At present, dearness allowance is 17 per cent.
In Budget 2021, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has proposed to provide tax exemption on cash allowance in lieu of Leave Travel Concession (LTC).
The Labour Ministry has declared the AICPI (All India Consumer Price Index) data that indicates that the Centre may announce at least 4 per cent hike in the DA. This is to be noted that the hike in the DA will also lead to a rise in central government employees' Travel Allowance (TA) too.
