Calling it an "inadvertent mistake", PCB has put Hafeez in isolation and informed the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) about their decision.

If found guilty, like England's Jofra Archer, Hafeez will have to self isolate himself for 14 days and return COVID-19 negative in two tests before he is allowed to re-join the squad. 

Six cricketers who were found to be COVID-19 positive ahead of the team's departure last week, tested negative in the latest round of testing conducted by the Pakistan Cricket Board.

The PCB confirmed that six of ten Pakistan players who tested positive have now returned negative tests twice and are eligible to join the squad in England.

The PCB said on Saturday that Hafeez is one of six players who have tested negative in the latest round after testing positive earlier.

PCB confirmed 20 players and 11 player support personnel will travel on a chartered flight to Manchester on Sunday morning for a three-Test and three T20I series to be played in August and September

Sohail said the entire matter of testing players was handled badly by PCB and Hafeez cannot be pulled up for going public with his result as he is not a centrally contracted player.

Mohammad Hafeez has reportedly tested positive again - days after he posted a report from a private medical facility which showed that he had tested negative.

On Wednesday morning Hafeez clarified on Twitter that he and his family have tested negative and even shared the medical report to back his claim. 

Mohammad Hafeez took the second test in his personal capacity and shared the news on his Twitter account.

Wasim is of the view that Hafeez has nothing to do with the board's decision but he is willing to personally speak with him.

Hafeez had also resisted the comeback of Mohammad Aamir to the Pakistan camp some years back when the board recalled Aamir after he completed his five-year ban for spot-fixing.

The two seniors, who were dropped following the team's exit from the 2019 ODI World Cup, were recalled for the T20 series at home against Bangladesh.
