Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar is all set to instil patriotism in his fans with his upcoming sports drama, Gold, directed by Reema Kagti and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani's Excel Entertainment.

Akshay plays the role of Tapan Das, manager of the Hockey team that won India's first ever gold as an independent nation in Olympics. The film revolves around the hardships of Tapan Das to make the team win gold.

Excel Entertainment has released a video talking about Akshay Kumar's character and his transformation. The video also shows how the actor amused everyone on and off screen. Akshay's look for the film comprised dhoti-kurta along with a jacket, moustache and a different hairdo. Revealing about the character, director Kagti says that the character is alcoholic and argumentative. Akshay's co-stars also divulge many secrets about him. While Kunal Kapoor calls him physically active, Vineet Kumar Singh mentioned his habit of playing pranks on co-stars.

The film has been shot across the UK and India, capturing the aspects of the pre-independent era. Starring Akshay Kumar, Mouni Roy, Kunal Kapoor, Amit Sadh, Vineet Singh and Sunny Kaushal, Gold promises power packed performances by an ensemble cast. The film is set to release on 15th August along with John Abraham's Satyameva Jayate.
