Kangana Ranaut questions ‘Karan Johar’s list of Best Actresses’, says ‘I really feel I stand out’

Kangana Ranaut is one actress who never minces her words before putting forward her point of view. Other than being a stellar actress, she is known for being an epitome of women empowerment and strength in the industry. Her last film Manikarnika was a big hit at the box office and the actress celebrated the success of the film last night with his friends and family. But before that, Kangana made some interesting revelations about the film industry when she attended the India Today Conclave in New Delhi.

When asked about the absence of her name in the list of Best Actresses on Karan Johar's chat show Koffee With Karan, Kangana Ranaut said, "I really feel I stand out. When you talk about actresses, here's a three-time National Award-winning actress. The Mr Johars of the world try to present a list of people whose acting abilities are questionable. It's brain-feeding of another magnitude." She added, "Karan mocked me on the IIFA stage and said that I am jobless and I am looking for jobs from him or something like that. I mean, look at my talent and look at your movies. I mean, really? He really called me jobless on some platform? I think some people need a dose of chyavanprash."

Not just Karan Johar, the actress also talked about her public fight with Hrithik Roshan. Speaking about Hrithik's statement, in which the actor said he didn't know Kangana on a personal level, the actress said, "Talking about this so-called case which never actually happened, here's a person I have worked with in two films. He is completely denying even knowing me and getting away with it. How does that even happen?" she asked. "You're saying that you don't know the person at all but you have worked with the same person for five years. One film took two years to make and the other took three years. How come you don't know the person? This is absurd," she added.

Can you guess how Sooraj Barjatya came up with Salman Khan's iconic screen name ‘Prem’?

Much before Salman Khan was called 'Sultan' or 'Bhaijaan', the superstar was known as 'Prem', a popular screen name given by filmmaker Sooraj Barjatya, who says, its origins, just like his films, stem from the family. Barjatya made his directorial debut with 1989's "Maine Pyar Kiya", which starred Khan as Prem, in what went on to become his breakout film. The duo then worked on films like "Hum Aapke Hain Koun...!", "Hum Saath-Saath Hain" and "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo", in which all of Khan's characters were christened Prem.

Even in the two films which Barjatya directed without Khan, "Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon" starring Hrithik Roshan and "Vivah" featuring Shahid Kapoor, he retained the name Prem for the male protagonist. In an interview with PTI, Barjatya said the name encapsulates everything he wants to say through his films. "'Prem' signifies a man who has his basics right, who's traditionally rooted, has fun but loves to be with his family and is good at heart," the director said.

For Barjatya, the journey to arrive at the name which would later become a signature mark for all his films, was a thought-out process. "When we were working on the script of 'Maine Pyaar Kiya', we were thinking about the name we should give to the hero. There were options like 'Gaurav', 'Pratap' and even 'Raj'. This is before Shah Rukh Khan came. So, 'Raj' was also there as an option," he revealed.
