ED had filed a fresh chargesheet against Mehul Choksi, his wife Priti and others under the anti-money laundering law in connection with the over Rs 13,000-crore loan fraud case on Monday.
The development is being seen as a ray of hope for India which has approached the Dominica High Court seeking to be impleaded as a party in the case filed by lawyers of Choksi whose bail plea was earlier rejected.
The charges include of criminal conspiracy, cheating, breach of trust, and illegal gratification by public servant.
According to sources, Priti is the beneficial owner of company named Hilingdon Holdings. ED has found in its investigation that the company is a shell company registered in the UAE in Jabel Ali Free Zone in November 2013.
"I'm European, I live in Europe and I'm not following Indian news. I'm also not following list of fraudsters so I haven't been aware of his real name and background until last week, said alleged girlfriend of Mehul Choksi.
Interestingly on May 23, the same day on which Choksi was allegedly kidnapped, during the breakfast meeting with Barbara, Choksi said that he is "practicing not to fear".
