Varanasi: The air in the holy city of Varanasi is nowadays filled with catchy slogans coined by bands of activists of Aam Aadmi Party and Bhartiya Janata Party congregating here to campaign for their candidates Arvind Kejriwal and Narendra Modi respectively.
Several of the AAP slogans include :
“Delhi mein Sheila haari hai, ab Modi ki baari hai” (Sheila lost in Delhi, it's Modi's turn now)
“Jo Kejriwal se darta hai, do-do jagah se ladhta hai” (Those who fear Kejriwal contest from two constituencies)
“Bhrashtrachar ka ek hi kaal, Kejriwal, Kejriwal” (The scourge for corrupt people is Kejriwal)
“Baba ladhe the Goron se, Hum ladhenge choron se” (Baba fought the British, we will fight the thieves)
“Chahe Mama ho ya bhanja, Jeeja ho ya sadhu, sab par bhari padne wali hai, aam aadmi ka jhadu” (Aam Aadmi's jhadu will prevail over uncle-nephew, brothers-in-law)
The Modi camp has come up with these slogans:
“Jo ladh na saka khansi se, who kya ladhega Kaashi se” (a jibe at Kejriwal who is asthmatic)
“Yuvaon ki hai lalkaar, abki baar, Modi sarkar”
“Modiji aayenge, jhadu sahit bhagayenge” (Modi will come and brush away the broom)
