National Commission for Scheduled Tribes chief Nand Kumar Sai said that lord Hanuman belonged to tribal community.

Corroborating his claim, he said that Hanuman is a gotra in tribes. 

Union Minister Satyapal Singh, presenting his views, said that Hanuman was an Aryan.

Yoga guru Swami Ramdev referred to Hanuman as Brahmin.

The war of words continued throughout the day with BJP leader Subramanian Swamy calling for the removal of Nand Kumar Sai from the post.

The caste of lord Hanuman has become an election issue in Rajasthan.
