New Delhi: Jaya Bachchan is known for being outspoken and many times in the past she has slammed media over many issues.

But this time sticking to her straight forward nature, Jaya was not behind slamming her son's Abhishek Bachchan's recent release 'Happy New Year'.

Abhishek Bachchan may have received rave reviews from the audience for his portrayal of 'Nandu'. However, mom Jaya is not at all thrilled. At the Tata Literature Live Mumbai LitFest, Jaya showed her disappointment publicly without giving a second thought.

She said, "HNY is the most nonsensical film I've seen in recent years. I said that to the film's lead actor as well. I watched it only because Abhishek was part of it. I told him he's a great actor if he can act stupid in front of the camera like that. I can't be part of what is being done in films these days and hence I don't do films anymore."

Jaya Bachchan whose son Abhishek Bachchan is a prominent character in the movie, has not shied away from criticizing the film.

At a recently concluded literature fest in Mumbai, Jaya Bachchan called Happy New Year the most nonsensical film.

Jaya added by saying, "Unfortunately cinema today is about business, not art. We call good films art house cinema. What does that even mean? All cinemas are art."

Mrs Bachchan was discussing the topic, "The failure of literature in informing current cinema". It was here that she gave the example of the SRK - Deepika Padukone starrer 'Happy New Year' and how she found it 'nonsensical'.

Though the Happy New year has received negative response from critics, still it has earned big at the box office.
