Filmmaker Meghna Gulzar’s directorial venture Raazi featuring actors Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal has turned out to be fifth highest opening week grosser of the year after Padmaavat and Baaghi 2. The total collection of the movie now stands at Rs 56.59 cr. Raazi has left behind the first-week collection of Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety and also surpassed the lifetime earnings of Varun Dhawan’s October and Rani Mukerji starrer Hichki. The numbers were shared by trade analyst Taran Adarsh on social media.

Taran took to microblogging site Twitter and wrote, “What’s noteworthy is the fact that #Raazi put up SUPERB numbers on weekdays, following an EXCELLENT opening weekend... The biz remained consistently above ₹ 5.25 cr from Mon to Thu, which indicates the word of mouth has translated into BO numbers.”

It is yet to be seen if Raazi manages to make its place in Rs 100 cr club.

The movie is based on Harinder Sikka’s novel Calling Sehmat. Alia played the role of a spy who was married off a Pakistani officer to transfer confidential information. She was heaped with praises for her performances.
