After Pad Man, Pakistan has now banned the recently released Bollywood film Pari, according to recent reports. The Anushka Sharma starrer apparently “promotes black magic, some non-Islamic values and anti-Muslim sentiments” and so, The Central Board of Film Censors (CBFC) of Pakistan has decided to put a ban on it, The Express Tribune stated. The horror film, which released in India today, is bankrolled by Anushka’s production house, Clean State Films. This is the third film after NH10 and Phillauri that has been produced by the actress’s production house.

“Pari’s script, dialogues and storyline go against our Islamic values. The concepts within Islam have different ideologies about magic. This film stimulates the viewers in favour of black magic and promotes thoughts that are contradictory to our religion,” a senior member of CBFC was quoted as saying to the Pakistani daily.

The CBFC source added, “None of the CBFC members are willing to give the film a certificate in any category and therefore, a ban has been implemented.” Speaking of the re-screening, the official added, “The distributors have a right of appeal and following said appeal, we will screen the film once again today, for review by the full board.”

The Pari trailer showcased that the title has a different meaning here. It is not a beautiful angel that we have grown up watching in movies. The trailer is spooky and Anushka Sharma has skyrocketed our expectations. It seems that the actress has worked very hard for the film and the result is outstanding.

The horror film also stars Parambrata Chatterjee, Rajat Kapoor and Ritabhari Chakraborty.
