T Raja Singh is the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and the current Telangana Assembly member from the Goshamahal constituency. Raja Singh entered the Assembly in 2014 after winning the state polls from Goshamahal by defeating Congress party's sitting MLA Mukesh Goud with a margin of over 46,000 votes. He retained his seat in 2018 by defeating Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) candidate Prem Singh Rathore with a margin of 17,734 votes. He was the only BJP candidate to win the 2018 Telangana Assembly polls. In 2022, Raja Singh was suspended by the BJP for his controversial remarks on Prophet Muhammad. However, his suspension was revoked in 2023. Singh started his political journey with the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He is facing BRS candidate Nand Kishore Vyas and Mogili Sunitha of Congress from Goshamahal in the upcoming Telangana Assembly Election 2023.

The previous municipal elections in Mahabubnagar were held in 2020, when the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) emerged as the single largest party with 30 seats in the corporation. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress (INC) secured five seats each.

Although the total number of wards has changed since the last elections, the current trend represents a substantial blow to the BRS and signals a shifting political landscape in Telangana’s urban local bodies.
Results declared so far show victories for candidates from the Indian National Congress, Bharat Rashtra Samithi and Bharatiya Janata Party, along with one Independent winner.
The Communist Party of India (CPI) has taken an early lead with multiple ward victories, while the Indian National Congress has secured one win. In the previous 2020 elections, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) was the single largest party. More results are awaited as counting continues.
Congress performed strongly in Dharmapuri, while Jagtiyal saw a mixed verdict with wins for Congress, BRS, BJP, AIMIM and several Independents. In Korutla, BRS secured a majority of the declared wards, whereas Metpalli and Raikal witnessed competitive contests among BJP, Congress and BRS.

The Jagtial Assembly constituency, which falls under the Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency, is considered a semi-urban general seat in north Telangana. According to official data, it has a Scheduled Caste population of around 13.2 per cent and a Scheduled Tribe population of nearly 2.77 per cent.
BJP has opened its account in several municipalities, including Thoopran, Narsapur, Yadagirigutta, Bhongir, Amarchinta, Indresham, Aliyabad, Kagaznagar, Metpalli, Korutla and Raikal.
