Jamnagar(Guj), July 12: A first year medical student of M P Shah College was yesterday found lying in a pool of blood in his hostel room and later succumbed to injury during treatment, officials said.
A native of Nashik, Mudar Phirke (25), a first year student of Orthopaedic department, in M P Shah Medical College, was found lying in a pool of blood in his hostel room, they said.
The student, who joined the college on July 3, barely eight days ago, was found to have slit his throat with a sharp-edgeD weapon,” a police official said. He was taken to the hospital by his colleagues where he succumbed to his injuries, they said.
The parents of the deceased have been informed about the incident, college sources said.
The police are conducting an investigation to find out whether this was a case of ragging by the seniors or suicide by the student, college sources said.
