Producer Ritesh Sidhwani has thrashed all reports that telly actress Mouni Roy bagged a role in Akshay Kumar starrer Gold after superstar Salman Khan’s recommendation. The producer stated that Mouni is very talented and was not recommended by anybody. He revealed that the lady gave a fantastic audition and was selected after that. Gold marks the Bollywood debut of Mouni. The film is being bankrolled by Farhan Akhtar and Sidhwani under their banner Excel Entertainment.
There were reports that it was Salman who suggested the team to take the Naagin actress in the film. Asked about the same, Sidhwani told reporters, "No, nothing like that. Nobody had to recommend. She is honest and very talented.
"She actually gave a fantastic audition for the part and after that we chose her. We did a proper test and it was then that she got the part. It wasn't based on any recommendation," Sidhwani said at the success party of his web series, Inside Edge here last evening.
Gold, directed by Reema Kagti, is about India's first Olympic medal win as a free nation in the year 1948 at Games of the XIV Olympiad, London.
Gold is all set to hit the screens on August 15 next year.
