New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday couldn't stop himself from expressing joy when he was presented with the first picture of Mars sent by the ‘Mangalyaan'.

He tweeted the picture and wrote, “Yes, I agree Mars Orbiter, the view is indeed nice up there!”

The Mars Colour Camera (MCC) on Wednesday took five pictured of the Red Plant. According to ISRO, this tri-colour MCC will give images and information about the surface features and composition of Martian surface. This will help scientists to monitor the dynamic events and weather of the planet.

India scripted history on Wednesday by becoming the first country in the world to place a spacecraft in Mars' orbit in the first attempt – an accomplishment achieved by none other nation.

The 1.3-tonne MOM was launched on November 5, 2013 by India's workhorse Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) from the spaceport of Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh.
