New Delhi: Now a passenger will not be charged extra for using credit or debit card for booking train ticket at at reservation counters at railway stations as the Indian Railways has decided to do away with Rs 30 service charge beginning next month.

The decision of no service charge at PRS counters will be effective from June 1, according to a senior Indian Railways Ministry official.

He said no service charge shall be levied on purchase of journey tickets at PRS counters through credit/debit cards.

Because of the extra charge, many passengers prefer giving cash for tickets bought at PRS counters to save those extra money on service charge.

However, the service charge for booking tickets online through IRCTC website will remain unaffected.
