Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who is riding high on success after his last film ‘Raees’ did wonders at the box office, today slammed Bollywood Award functions for not remembering the late veteran actor Om Puri in the recently held events. Nawaz’s comment came soon after Om Puri was honoured at the 89th Annual Academy Awards ceremony in the ‘In Memoriam’ montage.

The actor took to micro-blogging site Twitter and wrote, “The Academy #Oscars paid homage to late #OmPuri but in #bollywood award functions nobody converse single word for his contribution... SHAME.”

Earlier this year, many prominent faces from the industry mourned the death of veteran actor Om Puri, but his contributions went unnoticed in many Bollywood award shows. Om Puri, who had worked in several Hollywood films got a musical tribute by Grammy and Tony-nominated singer and songwriter Sara Bareilles at Oscars that took place yesterday.

While, Nawaz raised the issue on social media, it is yet to see if Bollywood reacts on it.

Nawazuddin who has already worked with Salman Khan and Aamir Khan essayed the role of a cop in SRK starrer ‘Raees’. The film received strong response at the box office.

He will next be seen testing his dance skills in ‘Munna Michael’ alongside Tiger Shroff.
