"The additional investment of $1.5 million is made through our innovation fund in TidalScale Inc, which is spearheading the software-defined server revolution," said the city-based IT major in a statement here.
On August 18, Ranganath, who has been working with Infosys for close to two decades, resigned in a surprise move that raises questions about stability at the country's second largest IT services firm.

Revenues from operations of the Bengaluru-based firm grew 12 per cent to Rs 19,128 crore in the April-June quarter compared to Rs 17,078 crore in the year-ago period, Infosys said in a BSE filing.
The country's second-largest IT services firm also asserted that it has sufficient time to file a key US regulatory document -- the subject of a recent whistleblower complaint -- and said the filing will be made "within the stipulated time".
The centre will enable incubation, co-innovation and proliferation of solutions leveraging Microsoft Cloud services.

Infosys had a total headcount of 2,04,107 people at the end of 31 March, 2018. While the gross addition stood at 12,329 people, the net addition was of 2,416 employees.
However, in terms of YoY comparison, the company’s Q4 profit witnessed a rise of 2.4 % rise and the revenue for the quarter rose 5.6% to Rs18,083 crore.
"We will open our next technology and innovation hub at Harford in Connecticut and hire 1,000 American workers in the state by 2022," said the IT major in a statement.
In a regulatory filing on the BSE, the IT major said consolidated revenue, however, grew 3 per cent annually to Rs 17,794 crore for the quarter under review (Q3) from Rs 17,273 crore in the same period year ago.
"Infosys CEO Salil Parekh will be paid a fixed salary of Rs 6.5 crores. He would be eligible for variable pay of Rs 9.75 crores at the end of the fiscal year," independent board member at Infosys Kiran Mazumdar Shaw said.
The lawsuit against TCS was filed in 2015 by a white IT worker who claimed he was subject to "substantial anti-American sentiment" within the company and was ultimately terminated within 20 months.
Infosys was rocked by boardroom battles that led to the dramatic exit of its first non-promoter Chief Executive, Vishal Sikka, in August and return of co-founder Nandan Nilekani as Chairman to steer it out of troubled times.
