Karti Chidambaram is facing several criminal cases related to the Aircel-Maxis deal and the Foreign Investment Promotion Board clearance to the INX Media for receiving foreign funds of Rs 305 crore when his father, P Chidambaram, was the Union finance minister.
A Delhi court on Thursday adjourned till May 4 the arguments on cognizance of charge sheet in Aircel-Maxis case, after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) sought more time to complete the investigation against former Union Minister P. Chidambaram and his son.

All pending matters related to this case will be handled over to Special Judge Kuhar from October 1, since judge Saini is getting retired at the end of September.

Special Judge O P Saini extended the relief after the argument on anticipatory bail plea of the father-son duo remained inconclusive as both the agencies sought time to argue the matter further. During the hearing, Chidambaram told the court there was no ground for it to deny them anticipatory bail, opposed by the two central probe agencies.

Special CBI Judge O P Saini put up the matter for February 1 after Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, appearing for the CBI, told the court that the ongoing probe was about to be completed.
Former Union minister P Chidambaram, an accused in the Aircel-Maxis case on Tuesday alleged in a Delhi court that the Enforcement Directorate was sensationalising the case and damaging his reputation.
The CBI had on November 26 told the court that Centre had granted sanction to prosecute P Chidambaram. The case relates to alleged irregularities in grant of FIPB approval in Aircel-Maxis deal.
The CBI on July 19 filed a chargesheet against 18 persons in the case, including the former Finance Minister and Karti.
The rejoinder submissions were filed before Special Judge O P Saini through advocates P K Dubey and Arshdeep Singh.
The submissions have been made by the father-son duo in their rejoinder filed in response to the replies of the probe agencies.
Appearing for the CBI and ED, Additional Solicitor General Tusshar Mehta told CBI Special Judge O P Saini that Chidambaram was not cooperating with the agencies.
Chidambaram had filed the plea for protection from arrest in the ED case on May 30 this year after which he got relief from the court on various occasions.
