MS Dhoni became the first captain to win 100 IPL games

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one of the finest captains in the history of the game and arguably India's best if records are taken into consideration.

From being the one and only captain to win all three ICC trophies -- T20 World Cup (2007), 50-over World Cup (2011) and the ICC Champions Trophy (2013) to being the second captain to win three IPLs after Rohit Sharma, Dhoni has won it all. And, on Friday he registered another record.

Dhoni became the first captain to register 100 wins in IPL. Out of the 100, 95 came for Chennai Super Kings and five in Rising Super Giant. Following Dhoni is Gautam Gambhir, who is second in the list with 71 wins, Rohit Sharma (54), Virat Kohli (44) and Adam Gilchrist (35).

Overall, Dhoni has captained his team in 166 games -- won 100, lost 65 and one game ended in a no-result.

However, Dhoni's monumental day and Chennai Super Kings' sixth win of the season and perhaps the most thrilling one was overshadowed by his actions during the last over of the game.

Dhoni uncharacteristically lost his cool and rushed out of the dug-out to challenge umpire Ulhas Gandhe who called a no-ball before retracting his decision during the last over of a tense chase on Thursday night at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium.

Dhoni's outburst was severely criticised and he was also fined 50 per cent of his match fee for breaching IPL's Level 2 offence 2.20 of the IPL's Code of Conduct.

Following the dramatic four-wicket win on the last ball, coach Stephen Fleming threw some light on what happened and why his captain rushed on to the field of play.

"He was certainly fired up the way the decision was handled and why it was overturned. It was a lack of clarity, obviously from him and he wanted to get it clarified at a key moment," Fleming said in the post-match press conference.

"It is unusual, he is generally pretty calculative, so it is something that he will be questioned about I am sure for a long time."

Lucky to escape a ban, MS will now be seen in CSK's next match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens on Sunday.
