2nd T20I: Maxwell's blistering century powers Australia to clean sweep India in Bengaluru

Highlights, India vs Australia 2nd T20I: AUS win by 7 wickets

* What a chase did we just witness! Brilliant, just brilliant! Take a bow Glenn Maxwell. What a knock by him! Australia needed someone to play a knock of a lifetime when they were struggling at 22-2 and it has come from the Big Show. Yes, he has stolen the show here tonight and in some style. Credit to Short and Handscomb. First it was the former who played a good hand with Maxwell as the two scored yet another handy stand which accounted for 73. Once the left-hander fell, it was the Peter Handscomb who played as the perfect foil to Glenn who scored a ton and gave Australia their first T20I series win in India and Kohli's first loss in a series at home as Indian captain.

22.27 IST: FOUR! MAXWELL FINISHES IT OFF IN STYLE! He lets out a huge roar as Australia have won the T20I series and that too for the first time in India. A length ball by Kaul, Maxwell clears his front leg and slaps it through covers. The field was up so he only needed to beat the fielders in the ring and he does so. It races to the fence and GIVES AUSTRALIA THE VICTORY BY 7 WICKETS!

22.25 IST: SIX! All the way! Maxwell has LEVELED THE SCORES IN STYLE! Takes a few steps ahead and converts it into a full toss and hits it over the long on fence for a biggie!

22.22 IST: SINGLE! Excellent bowling and Maxwell just manages to get one from it. AUS need 8 runs to win

* Australia need only 9 runs from the last Over

*Only five runs from the 19th Over

22.18 IST: 100 for Maxwell! What a knock and the whole ground is up, giving him a standing ovation. He deserves every bit of it as he is almost single-handedly taking Australia home here.

22.15 IST: NO- BALL! SIX! Going, going gone! Full toss above waist outside off, Maxwell gets behind it and smokes this over mid-wicket for a big six! Free Hit up next...

22.12 IST: SIX! Picked up the slower ball and smacks this over the bowler's head. How easy was that. Full around off, Glenn gets it off the middle and hits it straight into the sight-screen.

Siddarth Kaul to bowl the 18th over.

22.10 IST: FOUR! Second boundary in the over! Maxwell is turning on the show here! Short and it is the slower one. Maxwell picks it, he rocks back and pulls it through square leg for a boundary.  AUS 158/3 in 16.5 Overs

22.09 IST: FOUR! Pin-drop silence here! Full and outside off, Maxwell watches the ball closely and then lofts it over the cover and into the fence. A boundary early in the over. Pressure on the bowler.

22.07 IST: An overthrow in the end! Firstly, a top effort by Pandya. The ball was cut towards his left and he makes a diving stop, saving three for his side. Maxwell in the meantime was off but then was sent back. Pandya has a shy but misses. The batsmen then run an overthrow.

* Jasprit Bumrah returns to attack

22.05 IST: SIX! Another one! First a sweep and now gets one with a reverse sweep! Around off, Maxwell gets into position and reverse sweeps this over backward point for a huge hit. AUS 145/3 in 15.4 Overs

22.03 IST: SIX! HUGE! What a shot. Fuller ball on the leg side again. Maxwell sweeps this over backward square leg for a big hit.

22.00 IST: SIX! Just like that! He just needs to hold his ground and hit it on its merit! It is on the stumps and slightly short. Maxwell clears his front leg and tonks it over the bowler's head. It has got enough power and clears the fence easily. AUS 130/3 in 14.5 Overs

21.55 IST: FOUR! Top shot! He not only uses his feet but also makes room. Gets to the pitch of the ball this time and hits it over covers for a boundary.

Yuzvendra Chahal back into the attack.

21.53 IST: Back-to-back fifties for Maxwell. He flicks it towards mid-wicket for one. His 7th in this format. If he stays till the end, there is only one winner

21.51 IST: SIX! Yes, it does! It costs him big time as he is deposited in the stands. Another slower one but it is short. Also, since he was bowling only slower balls, Maxwell was waiting for it, he rocks back and pulls it over the mid-wicket fence. So 12 does come from this over but the important wicket of Short also. AUS 108/3 in 12 Overs

21.49 IST: FOUR! Tickled fine and a boundary! On the pads, it is the slower one. Maxwell waits for it and then works it very fine on the leg side. The Australians need to keep going.

21.48 IST: OUT! Out of all the bowlers, it is Shankar who has provided the breakthrough for the hosts. Excellent bowling change by India. The slower one does the trick. It is the leg spinner outside off. Short looks to go big but is done in by the pace. He only manages a top edge. It goes high up in the air towards cover where Rahul takes it. The dangerous 79-run stand comes to an end and Short walks back once again after getting a start. AUS 95/3 in 11.1 Overs

21.42 IST: FOUR! Maxwell goes down the ground this time, one bounce and boundary. AUS 93/2 in 10.4 Overs

21.39 IST: SIX! All class! Lopped up on off, Maxwell just lofts this nonchalantly over covers for a biggie.

21.37 IST: DROPPED! Not technically but goes through his hands! Oh boy! You need to take these ones. Wide and outside off, Short slices this towards point. Pant dives forward but the ball goes through his hands. The batsmen sneak a run.

21.34 IST: FOUR! Over the bowler! Second boundary in the over and another productive one for Australia. Tosses it up and it is a little too full. Short smashes it past the outstretched hand of Pandya and it crosses the fence. AUS 76/2 in 9 Overs

21.32 IST: FOUR! Once again an over in which a boundary is hit! Just what Australia need to keep doing! Short and outside off, Short plays it very late and past the man at point. Boundary.

21.30 IST: Krunal Pandya introduced for the first time tonight.

21.29 IST: FOUR! What a shot! As good as any today. Lovely use of the wrists there. Slightly short and Maxwell is quickly onto his back foot. He whips it through mid-wicket, finds the gap and a boundary results. AUS 60/2 in 7.2 overs

21.25 IST: FOUR! Second boundary in the over! Another freebie! Short and on the body, Short like Maxwell did, pulls it through backward square leg. 50 up for Australia. AUS 52/2 in 6.5 overs

21.24 IST: FOUR! Too easy! Down the leg side and it is shorter in length. Maxwell just pulls it through backward square leg and bags a boundary. AUS 47/2 in 6.2 overs

Australia are 42 for 2 after the first 6. 149 more needed in 84. India on top here.

21.20 IST: FOUR! A gift there! A full toss outside off, Short just opens the face of the bat and hits it through covers for a boundary. 10 from the over and a ball to go. Need to make the last ball of the Powerplay count. AUS 41/2 in 5.5 overs

21.18 IST: FOUR! Finds the gap and you need not run for those! Full and outside off, Short makes a little room and then times it through extra cover. They need this to be a big over. AUS 35/2 in 5.2 overs

21.15 IST: SIX! That's gone all the way and it's none other than Maxwell. A much-needed biggie for the visitors. Short and outside off, Maxwell looks to drag his pull but gets a top edge. It flies over the keeper's head and over the fine leg fence. Perfect end to the over, a good one for the Aussies, 9 from it. AUS 31/2 in 5 overs

Tormentor from the last game, Glenn Maxwell, walks out at number 4. Also, Jasprit Bumrah back into the attack.

21.10 IST: OUT! In the air... taken! Shankar gets rid of the Australian captain. Aaron Finch's bad form continues and Australia find themselves in big trouble here. Once again an Australian batsman pays the price of trying to play across the line. Finch goes for the hoick over the leg side but the ball skids through. Takes the top edge and goes high up in the air towards cover. Dhawan there settles under it, calls for it and takes it. Australia 22/2 in 4.4 Overs vs India (190/4)

Vijay Shankar back into the attack. Jasprit Bumrah has been replaced after just one over .

21.04 IST: Good hand there! Saved a couple! Shortish and outside off, Finch cuts it hard into the ground. Rahul jumps and gets a hand to it. The fielder at cover-point runs after the ball and saves keeps it down to two. AUS 15/1 in 2.4 Overs

Australian skipper Aaron Finch walks out at number 3.

21.02 IST: OUT! TIMBER! Stoinis pays the price of trying to hit it across the line! Back-to-back failures for Stoinis. Kaul lands it on a length and around off. MS looks to go over mid-wicket. He picked the wrong length as the ball sneaks under his bat and hits the top of off. SK is pumped up and Australia lose their first very early. Australia 13/1 in 2.2 Overs vs India (190/4)

20.59 IST: Only four runs from Bumrah's over. AUS 13/0 in 2 Overs

Jasprit Bumrah to bowl from the other end.

20.53 IST: FOUR! Second in the over and Stoinis too gets off the mark with a boundary! Poor ball short and it sits up to be hit. Stoinis says thank you so much, he drags it through mid-wicket. AUS 9/0 in 1 Overs

20.50 IST: FOUR! What a way to start the proceedings in the big chase, Short plays it elegantly for the boundary.

* Surprise! Surprise! Vijay Shankar to bowl the first Over for India

* Australian Openers are out for the big chase. No Aaron Finch at the top again.

Now then 190 is the target! Chasable? The wicket is a lovely one and the boundaries are short but Australia will have to bat really well. Defendable? Surely! The Indians though will rely more their spinners to do the job for them. Will the Indians level the series or will the visitors win it? Join us to find out in a while.

KL Rahul is caught down with an interview. He mentions that he is pleased to have runs in his kitty. Says that he has worked hard and is happy to see the results. Reckons that he had time to work on his game when he was away from the team and adds that he is in a good head space. States that he tries to keep his game simple as he is a gifted cricketer.

* After being inserted, the Indian openers got them off to a very good start by adding 61. Kl Rahul was the dominant partner but his wicket led to two more. Australia then enjoyed a good passage of play as the runs started to choke and India seemed to be losing their way a little. However, Kohli and Dhoni then decided to put their foot down and started hitting everything off the middle. The tonked the bowlers to all the sides of the park. The skipper ended with an unbeaten 72 of just 38 whereas, Dhoni scored a 40 at a strike rate of almost 174. The two ensured India end with something which is slightly above par one can say.

91 runs in the last 6 overs and India have finished with a huge total here. They will surely walk off as the happier side.

20.38 IST: SIX! Kohli finishes the innings off in style! That is some shot! Uses his feet and makes it into a half volley and smashes it over the long off fence. 18 from the last over. INDIA END WITH 190 ON THE BOARD!

20.37 IST: FOUR! This is clever! Short and it is the slower one. Karthik waits for it and then upper cuts it over short third man for a boundary. Karthik's first two balls are two boundaries. A strike rate of 400.

20.36 IST: EDGY FOUR! The fine leg fielder was too fine and India get a boundary! Full and on middle, Karthik swings but it goes off the inner half through backward square leg for a boundary.

Dinesh Karthik walks out for the last few balls left. He won't be on strike though.

20.34 IST: OUT! It has gone as high as it can in the night sky and Finch has taken it! End of an excellent innings though by Dhoni. He walks off to a standing ovation. Cummins bowls it full and on off, Dhoni walks right across and looks to whip it over mid-wicket. Only manages to get a leading edge which goes high up in the air towards mid off. Finch runs in from a long off and takes it. India 174/3 in 19.1 overs against Australia.

20.31 IST: FOUR! VINTAGE KOHLI! Ends the over in style! 15 from this one. Once again Richardson misses the yorker and he has been put away. Full and on middle, Kohli hits it straight back past the bowler and a boundary results. IND 172/3 in 19 Overs

20.29 IST: SIX! Misses the yorker and pays the price. Right in the zone this one. Full and on off, Kohli lofts it over the long off fence for a biggie. IND 164/3 in 18.2 Overs

20.27 IST: FOUR! Boundary to end the over, 19 from it! Short ball outside off, Dhoni hops a tad and cuts this over point for a boundary. This is the MS we all know.  IND 157/7 in 18 Overs

20.26 IST: SIX! Dhoni goes big again and its a maximum. IND 153/3

20.24 IST: SIX! Dhoni making the bat talk. Short bowls it a little too full on off. Dhoni gets under it and smokes this over long on for a maximum.

20.21 IST: Fifty for Kohli. The captain has risen to the occasion in this must-win encounter. He played himself in at the start but has not stepped on the gas. His 20th in this format. He needs to be there till the end here. He works this through mid-wicket and gets to the other end. IND 138/3 in 16.5

20.19 IST: SIX!  Hat-trick of sixes! Once again it is the flick shot which has gotten Kohli the maximum result. Uses his feet and with the angle lofts it over the mid-wicket fence. 4 in a row? IND 134/3 in 15.5 Overs

20.18 IST: SIX! This is even better than the last one. Brings up the 50-run stand and in some style. The length ball outside off, Kohli just lofts it with a straight bat over covers and it is into the stands. Just 29 balls is what it took to bring it up. They need to continue though of India need to post a big total here.

20.16 IST: SIX! Out of here! The seam-up ball this time and Nathan pays the price. It is on middle, Kohli flicks it over the fielder at mid-wicket and over the fence too.

* Nathan Coulter-Nile to bowl the 16th over.

20.12 IST: SIX! Majestic from Kohli. He makes room and gets a length ball. He just lofts it over covers. The timing is such that it goes all the way. Already 12 from the over. 2 balls to go. IND 111/3 in 14.4 Overs

20.10 IST: FOUR! Really poor from Jhye. He bowls it short and outside off with third man and point up. Dhoni says thank you so much. He cuts it over the fielder in the latter position and bags a boundary.

Jhye Richardson to bowl.

20.08 IST: FOUR! That has been bludgeoned! Full and on off, Dhoni has smashed it past mid off and it reaches the fence in a jiffy. IND 97/3 in 13.4 Overs

20.07 IST: Inside out for a couple! Length delivery, Kohli hits it over covers. The fielder in the deep runs to his left and keeps it down to two. Kohli wants a third but is sent back by his partner.

Pat Cummins in for his second over.

20.03 IST: SIX! MSD SHOW begins! All the way! This time he connects with the slog sweep. Goes down on one knee and hits it right off the middle. It sails over the mid-wicket fence. IND 88/3 in 12.3 Overs

20.01 IST: FOUR! Top shot and a much-needed boundary for India. This is slightly short and outside off, Kohli rocks back, makes room and then cuts it past the diving point fielder for a boundary. IND 80/3 in 11.5 Overs

19.58 IST: OUT? A stumping appeal has been taken up. Has Dhoni got back in time? Yes he, long stride from MSD and he is safe.

Big cheers in the crowd as MS Dhoni walks out to bat.

19.54 IST: OUT! What a catch that is! Jhye Richardson take a bow! Pant is now walking back and all of a sudden, India are in trouble here. Once again the bowling change has worked wonders. The sequence of dot balls increased the pressure on Pant. He tried to go downtown but mistimes his shot completely. He still might have though he would get away with it but Richardson at long off runs to his left, dives full stretch and takes it. Pin-drop silence at the moment here and the Australians are pumped up. Another failure for Pant. IND 74/3

* Rishabh Pant is the new man in.

19.49 IST: OUT! The umpire feels Stoinis has his fingers underneath the ball and has given it in the fielding team's favor. I feel the soft signal has played a big part here as that could have gone either way. However, one can say, it is the right decision in the end. End of Dhawan's misery and India have lost both their openers in quick succession. Once again, the bowling change does the trick for the visitors. Behrendorff bowls it outside off and it is on a length. It is the cross-seam delivery. Sticks in the wicket a little. Dhawan lofts it over covers but it is a little too close to the sweeper. Stoinis there runs in and he seems to have taken it. The umpires though are not sure and they take it upstairs. The soft signal is out. After quite a few replays the umpire has decided to stay with the on-field call. IND 71/2 in 9.2 Overs

19.46 IST: Marcus Stoinis is in the action! Has he taken it cleanly. He is confident. Dhawan is the man in danger. The SOFT SIGNAL IS OUT!

Jason Behrendorff is back on.

19.43 IST: Direct hit is Kohli short? It was a full stretched dive and Kohli is safe. IND 70/1 in 9 Overs

19.39 IST: On the pads, Dhawan fails to put bat on ball. It hits his pads and rolls towards square leg. A leg bye taken. Just the four runs and a wicket from this over. Australia needed such an over and Coulter-Nile has provided it..

* Indian skipper Virat Kohli walks in.

19.36 IST: OUT! In the air... taken! A soft, soft dismissal there. Rahul is very disappointed with himself and rightly so. Catching practice this from KL. Coulter-Nile bangs it short and outside off. Rahul plays an upper cut despite a third man being there. He does not get it as fine as he wanted to and it goes towards Richardson who runs in and takes a neat catch IND 61/1 in 7.1 Overs

19.32 IST: FOUR! Bad delivery and it has been put away! Down the leg side, all Rahul had to do is get bat on ball. He does so, hits it fine on the leg side and a boundary. IND 58/0 in 6.2 Overs

19.31 IST: No he can't! He is hurt! On the middle stump, it is shorter in length. Rahul looks to flick but misses. He gets hit on the box and is down on the ground now. However, another good over for the Indians and end of an excellent Powerplay for India. They are 53 for 0 after it.

19.29 IST: SX! It keeps getting better! Dealing in sixes is Rahul. A bumper on the body, Rahul swivels and pulls it over the square leg fence for a biggie. IND 53/0 in 5.5 Overs

19.27 IST: SIX! Third for Rahul! How easy was that? It was a length ball by Cummins, coming in with the angle. Rahul nonchalantly flicks it over mid-wicket and it goes all the way. Shot of the night so far.

Pat Cummins is into the attack.

19.23 IST: SIX! Back-to-back maximums! This one was right off the middle and very delightful to the eye. Just a little fuller on off, Rahul lofts it over cover and it travels all the way. Trademark Rahul there. IND 38/0 in 4.5 Overs

19.22 IST: TOP EDGE BUT SIX! Full marks to the bowler but runs to the batsman. A good short ball, it was quick and well-directed. Rahul goes for the pull but the ball takes the top edge and flies into the stands.

* Jhye Richardson returns to attack.

19.18 IST: FOUR! Poor bowling, especially with the man inside the ring! Short and on the body, Rahul just helps it on its way over the fielder at short fine leg for a boundary. This is turning out to be another good over for the Indians. IND 23/0 in 3.4 Overs

19.16 IST: WIDE! Bumper but too high! Short and around off, Dhawan looks to upper cut it very late. He misses. The umpire signals it as a wide. IND 17/0 in 3.2 Overs

19.14 IST: Little pause in the game. OUCH! That must have hurt! Slightly shorter in length, Dhawan looks to pull but the ball is onto him before he expects it to. It hits him around the box. He is in some pain now.

* Nathan Coulter-Nile comes into the attack

19.10 IST: FOUR! Dhawan gets into the act now. First boundary for him. He dances down the track, the length is not the one he wanted but the line is on his pads. He flicks it over mid-wicket for the second boundary in the over. 9 from the first three. IND 13/1 in 2.3 Overs

19.09 IST: FOUR! Short, wide and it has been put away! First boundary in this innings. Width on offer outside off, Rahul slaps it through cover-point. No fielder in the deep and it races across the fence. IND 8/0 in 2.1 Overs

19.07 IST: Too straight this time, Rahul flicks it through mid-wicket. Short at deep square leg, quickly gets across to his left and keeps it down to one. IND 4/0 in 1.3 Overs

Jhye Richardson to bowl from the other end.

19.01 IST: A little too straight this time, Dhawan has his front pad planted way too across, hence, he fails to flick. It hits his pads, rolls towards square leg. The batsmen take a leg bye. IND 2/0 in 0.2 Overs

19.00 IST: Starts off right on the money! No swing though. Good length and around off, Rahul waits for the ball to come to him and then just opens the face and guides it down to third man for a run. India and Rahul are underway.

18.58. IST: We are all set for the action to begin! The Australian players make their way out to the middle. They are followed by the Indian openers, Shikhar Dhawan and Kl Rahul. Jason Behrendorff has the new ball in hand. Here we go...

18.52 IST: Indian team is all set to level the series in Bengaluru.

18.44 IST: Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, says that he would have bowled first as well. Mentions that he is happy to bat as the pitch won't change much. Adds that the wicket has been the same since the last three years, just like the old Bengaluru surface. Credits the bowling in the last match. On the team news he says that he has three changes. Rohit, Yadav and Mayank make way for Dhawan, Kaul and Shankar.

18.40 IST: Australian skipper, Aaron Finch, says it looks like a really good wicket and he hopes they can chase down whatever target is set. States they back themselves to chase it down later on and he feels if there is something for the bowlers, it will be early on. Further adds they were outplayed by India in Australia but are eager to win the series here. Ends by saying there are no changes for them today.

18.38 IST: India Playing XI-

18.36 IST: Australia Playing XI-

18.31 IST: Australia win the toss and elect to bowl first.

18.24 IST: M Chinnaswamy stadium is all set to host the second T20I

17.30 IST: The Men in Blue are gearing up for the final clash of the T20I series against Australia and plenty of boundaries are expected in this match. Can KL Rahul deliver once again? He knows what has to be done. Take a look.

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the 2nd T20I between India and Australia. The TOSS will take place at 18.30 PM IST and play will begin at 19.00 PM IST.

Brief Report: Bruised by the narrow three-wicket loss to Australia in the series opener, India will aim to come back strong and avoid a 0-2 whitewash in the second and final T20I at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday. After finishing their overseas assignments in Australia and New Zealand on a high, India were handed a stern reality check in the opening match, which saw the famed India batting lineup crumbling for a paltry 126/7 before the Aussies overcame Jasprit Bumrah's impressive spell to romp home in the last ball thriller.
