After senior People's Democratic Party leader and former Public Works Minister Naeem Akhtar was questioned in a multi-crore works allotment scam, sources here said sleuths of the state crime branch could now question PDP chief and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.

A personal security officer (PSO) of PDP leader Mufti Sajjad Hussain, cousin of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti was shot dead by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district on Friday.

"The complaint seeking action against the PDP president for her seditious statement on the national flag, which represents the national honor, and her threat of 1947-like violence erupting in the state if Article 35A is repealed, was forwarded to the senior superintendent of police (SSP), Jammu," Sukesh C Khajuria said.

PDP president Mehbooba Mufti's motorcade came under stone-pelting in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday while she was returning from a shrine there, officials said.  

Omar Abdullah tweeted, "'We have to rid J&K of these two political families,' says Modiji in 2014 and then promptly goes and makes not one but two members of the Mufti family CM of J&K."

National Conference leader Omar Abdullah on Sunday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi why did he make two members of the Mufti family Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister after condemning them in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.

Mufti, who was elected to the Lok Sabha from this constituency in 2014, is being challenged by state Congress chief G.A. Mir and former judge of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Justice Hasnain Masoodi of the National Conference.

The Delhi High Court has dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking a ban on Kashmiri leaders Mehbooba Mufti, Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah from participating in the Lok Sabha elections.
