Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor’s death news came as a shock to Bollywood celebs as well as his fans. The actor took his last breath on Monday at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. Many celebrities mourned the death of the legendry actor and lately, actress Katrina Kaif has shared an emotional post saying that his contribution to the Hindi cinema will be cherished forever. After the news of Shashi’s demise came out, Amitabh Bachchan along with his family and many other celebrities rushed to his residence.
Katrina wrote a post on social networking site Facebook saying, “Immortalising an era of classic cinema, a legend leaves us with precious memories. Shashiji was and will always be an icon for all of us and generations to come .... His impactful contribution to cinema will be cherished forever #RIPShashiKapoor.”

His funeral was held yesterday, and it was attended by Shah Rukh Khan, Big B, Sanjay Dutt and many other celebrities.
Mumbai police honoured Shashi Kapoor by wrapping him in the tricolour and hosted a salute ceremony which included a moment of silence.
Shashi was younger brother to Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor. He was honoured with the Padma Bhushan -- the third highest civilian honour -- by the Government of India in 2011. In 2015, he was bestowed with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
