Pratap Singh Khachariyawas is the Cabinet Minister of Food and Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs in the third Ashok Gehlot Ministry. Khachariyawas lost three back-to-back Rajasthan Assembly Elections in 1993, 1998 and 2003 from Bani Park as an Independent candidate. Pratap Singh later joined the Congress party and won the 2008 Rajasthan Assembly polls from Civil Lines by defeating Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) candidate Ashok Lahoti with a margin of 6,961 votes. However, he was defeated by BJP's Arun Chaturvedi by 11,129 votes in the 2013 Rajasthan polls. In 2018, Khachariyawas made a comeback and won the Civil Lines constituency yet again by defeating sitting MLA Chaturvedi. Khachariyawas is the nephew of former BJP stalwart and ex-Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat. He is again contesting from Civil Lines against BJP's Gopal Sharma in the upcoming Rajasthan Assembly Election 2023.
