Controversial singer Mika Singh had always wanted to lend his voice to Amitabh Bachchan on screen, and finally he achieved this with the Kammo song in Ram Gopal Varma's film Department.
Mika told a newspaper: "You can imagine my surprise when Bappi Lahiri told me about it. I nearly jumped with joy. I was finally getting the chance to sing for Amitabh Bachchan."
Big B even blogged about the Kammo song, saying Mika has a unique voice.
"I am one of the first singers to be mentioned and it is a matter of pride for me. It was sort of a New Year resolution that this year somehow or other other, I want to sing for Amitabh Bachchan. I felt intuitively that it would happen this year and it actually did", says Mika.
Mika says he usually connects with Big B through sms. "i do text him once in a while and there is always a prompt reply. Usually, I stay away from music directors and actors after a recording, but with him it is different. Whenever I perform live for shows in India, or abroad, I always include medleys of Bachchan Sr's songs. It was a high for me to sing the Kammo song for the superstar."
Besides the Kammo song, the report says, Mika has pinned hopes on "Chinta ta ta " in Rowdy Rathore.
"I have also sung a qawwali number Teri Aankhon me in Teri Meri Kahani", says Mika.
