Amethi: A retired army man has been beaten to death allegedly by his wife and his younger daughter over property dispute, police said yesterday.

Zabbar, a resident of Kochhit village under Musafirkhana police station, was badly beaten by his wife Mahejaban and his younger daughter Shahin after he refused to transfer his entire property to her daughter's name, they said.

According to police, Zabbar had two daughters and both of them were married. While the elder daughter Shama lives with her in-laws, the younger was staying with her parents.

The wife and daughter of the deceased used to pressurise him to transfer his entire property to Shahin, but he refused to do so, said J L Sonkar, SHO, Musafirkhana.

Angry over this, his wife and younger daughter allegedly decided to finish him and beat him. Zabbar succumbed to his injuries while being taken to a hospital at Sultanpur, police added.

Both the mother and the daughter have been arrested and sent to judicial custody, he said.
