Congress leader Rahul Gandhi too taunted, "Why is Modi government not ready for JPC probe?"
Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi used the Rafale deal rhetoric for political gain, just as he used former Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar's ill-health for the same purpose, the latter's son Utpal Parrikar said on Thursday.
Former Union ministers, Yashwant Sinha and Arun Shourie, and activist lawyer Prashant Bhushan, who have filed the review petitions, contended before the top court that it should set aside December 14, 2018, verdict, which dismissed their plea for criminal investigation into the Rafale deal. Later, the apex court reserved verdict on a batch of petitions seeking review of its December 14 judgement.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has already stated that Anil Ambani's company was one of the nearly 100 companies who got offset contracts from the makers of Rafale aircraft, Dassault Aviation.
Petitioners in the case are former Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha, journalist-turned-politician Arun Shourie and activist-lawyer Prashant Bhushan.
"The government has not only misled the court but also insulted it with a curative petition saying the court had misinterpreted (the information submitted by the government)," Sharma said.
"I want to know from the Congress -- is it agitated today and telling lie after lie because the BJP government's defence deals do not have any Quattrocchi "mama", Christian Michel uncle?", he said.
