Vadodara: The Baroda Dairy has launched an online service portal to bring in transparency in governance and to connect the cooperative with village-level member societies to improve various services, its vice president Ganpatsinh B Solanki said.
"In order to bring transparency in the governance, the Baroda Dairy has launched a portal on the 'Dairy Service Delivery System' (DSDG) covering its various departments on the dairy premises located in Makarpura on the outskirts of the city," Solanki told PTI.
"It would act as a link between the 1,400 village-level milk cooperative societies (that are members of the dairy) and the customers," he added. Solanki claimed that Baroda Dairy was the first to introduce such a service.
According to him, presidents of the village-level milk societies located in Vadodara and Chhota Udaipur and the registered customers can send SMSes to the dairy's head office to avail various services, like veterinary service and procurement of cattle feed, among others.
"We will maintain a data bank of phone numbers of presidents of all the 1,400 milk societies so that when they send SMSes to the head office of dairies here, they will receive intimation about the schedule of the veterinary doctor or information on when he can expect cattle feed delivered," president of the dairy Shailesh Patel said.
"The system will reduce paperwork and time. The Dairy spends Rs one crore in processing manual input from various services which results into delay and no official records on them. With the use of the new service, this will go down considerably," Solanki added.
The dairy, with an annual turnover of Rs 750 crore, has spent Rs 35 lakh on developing the software and data bank and will annually spend Rs 15 lakh on maintenance, he said.
