The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday came out all guns blazing against Congress president Rahul Gandhi for his tweet on the report which ranked India as the most unsafe country for women in the world. Saffron party also listed sexual cases against several Congress party leaders.

National spokesperson of the BJP, Meenakshi Lekhi said that even Priyanka Gandhi was harassed during a protest organised at the India Gate by the party over Kathua rape and murder case.

Congress has a history of crime against women, she further alleged.

“We appeal to Delhi Police to register an FIR and also ensure the safety of a girl who has complained of sexual harassment at the Social Media office of Congress party,” ANI quoted Lekhi saying.

She also dragged veteran Congress leader Shashi Tharoor and said he was facing harassment charges.

“Rape capital of the world is New York, not New Delhi. Do not defame India,” she said.

“While our PM tiptoes around his garden making Yoga videos, India leads Afghanistan, Syria & Saudi Arabia in rape & violence against women. What a shame for our country!” Gandhi had tweeted recently after the Reuters report on women safety was released.
